Our current situation with Coronavirus / Covid-19 has brought death to the forefront, and the messaging children receive is critical to their understanding of death and dying. Perhaps even more critically, many children are not discussing death at all. We can help.
Addressing the subject of death and dying in schools and in our communities in a positive way normalises the subject, alleviating fear, uncertainty and doubt, and in turn supports the pupils’ health, relationships and well-being, which can have positive affects on their academic attainment.
We know you have a commitment to developing the knowledge, skills and attributes to keep children and young people healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work. Our programme seeks to:
- Identify and support child carers.
- Provide a safe and relaxed environment for children to explore death
- Explore myths and assumptions around death
- Explore impact of Coronavirus on children
- Explore how to communicate with those who are grieving
- Identify and support children who have bereavement issues
The above would be in conjunction with parental support and we suggest holding an evening with parents and guardians too.
What to do next:
